A Few Sandwich Life Recommendations

Peter Case: A Million Miles Away, the Peter Case documentary is finally out! As many of you know, I adore Peter Case. I've adored him musically since I bought a Plimsouls at Record Service oh so many years ago, and I've adored him personally since the first time he played our house in 2010.

one of my all-time favorite pictures...Owen just immediately took to Peter. For years if he was very nervous, he would reassure himself, "Why am I nervous, I know Peter Case."

The documentary is fantastic and is great for someone who knows a fair amount about his history as well as someone who doesn't. Personally I would be happy to just listen to Peter talk the whole time because I love listening to him but there are some absolutely killer clips in here that I hadn't seen---particularly the Nerves, but also the Plimsouls and all the great solo stuff. If you are a fan you should definitely go for buying it rather than renting it as you will want to play it again.

Somebody Somewhere is a tv show that I've been telling everyone to watch. Usually I stick to music recommendations but GOOD GOD I love this show. It is incredibly real, tender but funny as hell. There are two seasons and it's been renewed for a third season (yay). Go watch it and tell me what you think.

Recommendation #3, and yes, I guess these are in order of importance. Skoon Cat Litter! Ok, we used to have four cats, now we're down to one quite elderly girl but suffice to say, we have bought a LOT of cat litter in our time, particularly during Bob's decline. We started trying different ones with varying degrees of success, eventually landing on Skoon. And we have a winner! It's not cheap upfront but it lasts so much longer that it may very well be cheaper. Honestly, with just Hattie, we only change it every three or four weeks and frankly we don't scoop all that often. It also doesn't get all over the place like finer litter does. Unless the cat has JUST gotten out of the box, you really don't get smells which is so damned wonderful. You can choose how often you want it delivered and you can set it up so you don't even have to think about it. I'm not taking a picture of our litter box so you get Hattie instead.

Ok, I feel kinda funny recommending cat litter alongside Peter Case but hey, cat litter is important too, right?

Last but not least, for the gluten-free among us particularly: Reg Cakes in Lincoln Square in Urbana. I've been dropping hints for several years to the various men in my life (sigh). Today, Ernie went to the Farmers' Market before I got up because let's face it, I value sleep more than he does. Evidently he stopped in Lincoln Square as well because he texted me and said he had my breakfast ready. I came downstairs to this:

I love cinnamon rolls and I haven't had one in years because of the stupid gluten thing. These were DIVINE! Word is that they carry lots of other breads as well cakes and cupcakes. Most definitely recommended!

Onward.
