The Learning Curve

Random notes on a gloomy day

My new life on Substack of course comes with a learning curve. Ha. What doesn’t? You will probably notices little changes here and there as I go along. I’m still struggling with what posts are free, what are behind a paywall. Much to consider. Please let me know your thoughts.

One of the things I did today was write my ‘About’ page. I find it interesting to do things like that. How do I describe myself and my life? As alway, writing processes things for me. Take a look and tell me if I missed anything.

Leo and Ernie are off to get us a Christmas tree. I may be broke but damned if I’m going without a Christmas tree. Leo’s always been good at picking Christmas trees. Just look at that face.

And now, a new word to add to my list of nails-on-a-chalkboard words. I can’t explain them, they just bother me. A lot of folks hate the word ‘moist.’ Doesn’t bother me a bit. For some reason, these just bother the hell out of me.

Ooey-gooey (this seems to be entering a renaissance, sigh)

Dry-brine (it’s just SALTING people)

Sammy (it’s a freaking sandwich)

Brekkie (only allowed if you come from a place where it is used unironically)

Easy-peasy (can’t explain this one)

Cool beans (can’t explain this one either)

Please add your hated words in comments!

I’m making this a free post as I still haven’t decided how to handle all this. Thanks again to all that have subscribed!

Onward.
