The Learning Curve

My new life on Substack of course comes with a learning curve. Ha. What doesn’t? You will probably notices little changes here and there as I go along. I’m still struggling with what posts are free, what are behind a paywall. Much to consider. Please let me know your thoughts.

One of the things I did today was write my ‘About’ page. I find it interesting to do things like that. How do I describe myself and my life? As alway, writing processes things for me. Take a look and tell me if I missed anything.

I don’t if I’ve ever enjoyed cranberry sauce as much as I have this year. This week it’s partly because I have this flu/cold thing I can’t kick and if it’s not sharp I can’t taste it. But even when I’m better, I think I need more cranberries in my life.

A curried rice, red lentil, leftover thing. It was ok the night we made it but the next morning, with eggs on it, for breakfast? Much better!

Leo and Ernie are off to get us a Christmas tree. I may be broke but damned if I’m going without a Christmas tree. Leo’s always been good at picking Christmas trees. Just look at that face.

And now, a new word to add to my list of nails-on-a-chalkboard words. I can’t explain them, they just bother me. A lot of folks hate the word ‘moist.’ Doesn’t bother me a bit. For some reason, these just bother the hell out of me.

Ooey-gooey (this seems to be entering a renaissance, sigh)

Dry-brine (it’s just SALTING people)

Sammy (it’s a freaking sandwich)

Brekkie (only allowed if you come from a place where it is used unironically)

Easy-peasy (can’t explain this one)

Cool beans (can’t explain this one either)

Please add your hated words in comments!

I’m making this a free post as I still haven’t decided how to handle all this. Thanks again to all that have subscribed!

Onward.
