From Hugging God to Mr. Krabs

We went over to my mother's house and had pizza after Owen's t-ball game.  Papa Murphy's thin crust....a cheese for Owen, a Mediterranean chicken for my mom, a little salad and of course mac and cheese for Leo. After awhile I rounded up guys and told them to say good bye to Grandma.  Leo sweetly hugged and kissed her followed by Owen. Then Owen sat down again at the kitchen table and sighed, saying, "I miss hugging Grandpa...and remember then he'd give us money?"  Leo piped up, "yeah, that was the best thing."  Owen asked me if I had a picture of grandpa.  I showed him one my mom had but it was my dad in a suit and I don't think it looked right to him. I told him when we got home I'd show him some other pictures.  I said I know sometimes even when you miss someone it can be hard to remember exactly what they looked like.  He thought about it and then said, "well, I can see him hugging me and hugging God."  I just stared at him because really....what the hell else could I do at that point?  Then Owen narrowed his eyes and said dryly, "Leo's just hugging money."  Leo perked up and said, "yep, I'm like Mr. Krabs."  Owen then commented that he loved family and his friends more than money.  I agreed and said "yeah, that's why you and I will never have any money Owen but I like us....and besides.....Leo will make lots of money and take care of us."  First Leo said he'd spend all his money on Lego but then he relented and agreed to take care of us all and kissed me.

I swear....I wish I had a tape recorder.  On the way home Owen rode with me and just chatted and chatted.  He told me he wanted to go to church because then he would feel like Grandpa was sitting with him.  Then he started a rant about it doesn't matter whether you win or lose you just have to be yourself and if you're on a cooking show you should just cook (I've forced too many reality cooking shows on him).

Oh man do I love those boys.  Not sure where the hell they came from....but love them I do.

We got home and they tumbled out into the field to catch fireflies and watch bats.  I promised them ice cream when they got in and all went well and now I have two sleeping angels.  Well, three actually as I think the third angel has dozed off as well.

My sweet peas.
