Quick Cancer Update
Well, if you were wondering how Ernie's appointment went today....it went o.k. His PSA was down from 1.1 to 0.3 which is great but of course we were hoping for <0.1. I asked the doctor how long lupron (or other hormonal ablation) usually supressed the cancer and he said anywhere from two years to ten years but then added that it usually didn't last as long for younger men. I know the guys think he is old but for a prostate cancer patient he's still pretty young. We went with Zoladex instead of Lupron as he's had trouble with the Lupron shots. This one goes in his stomach so we're hoping he doesn't get the pain that he does with the Lupron in his hip.
We will go back to alternating visits between this guy (Ronald Sapiente---our favorite doctor) and another oncologist because he said if Ernie gets to the point he needs chemo it would be good to have the other guy in the mix.
I took Ernie to Fries and Peanuts for lunch and now am back at work (breaking my no posting at work rule).
There you have it.
