Barns, tantrums and maps....

A couple more pictures from our excursion yesterday.  Let me elaborate a bit.  Life's been a bit iffy of late and next weekend Ernie will be out of town four days for an antique show that I'm sure will be just GREAT given the mood of the country and that will be followed by a week and weekend of nonstop work.  It's all good but it will still be a hellish stretch.  So I REALLY wanted to have a good weekend this weekend and I saw that there was a barn tour in Piatt County and I thought sounded SO lovely....driving through the country, taking some pictures, hanging out with the guys.  Right, huh?  HA!  A certain nameless blonde child is going through a phase (I'm ASSUMING it's a phase....otherwise God help us all) and doesn't want to do anything if it involves leaving the house or stopping doing  whatever he happens to be doing at the moment.  Two hours later.....two very LOUD hours later....we stomped to the car.  We are being very careful with money but I had told the boys we would get them doughnuts so we stopped and bought six doughnuts for over $5 which they then decided to save for later.  Okay.  We got to the address in Monticello which the paper had listed for tickets only to be told that was a mistake and we had to turn around and drive several miles back to a different location.  Okay.  Ernie and Owen got out and went and bought the tickets.  Tickets were $5 each (the boys didn't have to pay) and that gets you a bad county map with yellow highlighter outlining the route.  There is also a booklet of information on the sites which is $10 but my husband didn't buy that.  So we were just going to drive to bunch of places we had no information on.  Okay.  Then Owen's stomach started hurting.  Okay. Then we got lost because things weren't marked well and they give MORE DIRECTIONS IN THE BOOK MY HUSBAND DIDN'T BUY.  We finally got to one barn and I will say at the whopping three sites we managed to find and stop at, the guys had a very good time.  Once we got back in the car however that pretty much faded away.  Then Leo decided his stomach was hurting too.  I gave up and we headed home.  The pictures make it look like a much better time, don't they?
