Random Notes From the Sandwich Life

1.  Man, I gotta get out more.  I went to Meijer's last night after work and almost went into sensory overload.....but oh man I love their produce section.  I was feeling just spacy enough that I started just reaching for things I really didn't need like dandelion greens so I forced myself to walk on but when I passed the packages of mixed heirloom cherry tomatoes I couldn't help myself and grabbed it.  Got what else I needed and then stood in line mesmerized by the cover of a Real Simple magazine that proclaimed I could organize my life and feel calmer.  I looked at the price though and thought, "hell, I could get more heirloom tomatoes for that AND dandelion greens...."

2.  This is just making me DAMN happy.  Thin Lizzy and a couple of Sex Pistols AND a Christmas song.  I mean....life is GOOD....

3.  In not so good news my sweet pea---the one with the big brown eyes, a.k.a. Leo, is sick. Not horribly so yet---but I could tell he has a low fever and he said he felt tired and just wanted ice water so we'll see.  This is not right---he's my Christmas boy and he was sick LAST Christmas.  So cross your fingers and we won't let him kiss Aunt Judi....

4.  I've been doing some poking around online trying to figure out how we can deal with the effects of Judi's chemo Tarceva.  Johns Hopkins seems to have some pretty active message boards on  pancreatic and biliary (bile duct) cancer.   Reading them I was reminded that fatigue can be a side effect of the Tarceva so some of Judi's exhaustion and weakness could be from that.  I'm trying to read up on nutrition/diet ideas to combat the diarrhea from the Tarceva.  We'll see what we can do to get that under control.

5.  My plan for today?  Go to work...hopefully take off early....go grocery shopping because Ernie thinks HIS head will pop off if he goes into Schnuck's one more time...eat some Christmas cookies....make dinner....watch a Christmas movie while watching the boys alternate between racing around the house with excitement and rearranging the presents under the tree.

6. Merry Christmas.

7. Happy Hanukkah and a particularly Happy Hanukkah to Little Blog on the Prairie who just had a remarkably beautiful baby girl....

8.  I like this one too---even though I'm not the biggest Who fan in the world....  and thanks to Sal at Burning Wood for the music suggestions....
