The Christmas Life and the Vertebrats: December 3, 2008

Last night was tree decorating night.  I left work, picked up Owen from a playdate, rushed home, kissed my husband for putting lights on my arbor, turned the oven on for the pizza and started hurling lights at one of the trees.  Debbie and my mother showed up, slid the wheelchair up the ramp (scary as always), Judi came downstairs and the chaos began.

Leo was SO happy and was the main ornament guy.  Owen was just on some kind of holiday high.  Select Owenisms from the evening:

I think of Grandma as kind of like God, and the aunts are like the sons of God and the parents (Ernie and me) are like the sheep.

You know how your heart has two bumps at the top and a point at the bottom?  Well, one bump is for love and the other one is for being with your family at the holidays.

Christmas isn't just about Santa Claus.  It's about being with your family.

Kwaanza is an AFRican-AMERican HOLiday! (his line from the holiday program at school---he explains that he has to say it with a lot of expression or it would be boring)

I think Grandpa might be here in the house with us.  Otherwise, who would take care of Grandma?

I feel like Christmas...it's snowing outside and we're all together.

From Leo:

How come I'M the only one putting on ornaments?

This is awesome.

Owen, Owen, be careful.

I need a hook!

I'm taking a five minute break.

When I came home Ernie had the trees in the stands and I noticed the one in the dining room had a sole ornament.  Ernie said it was the official first ornament....

I love my husband.

and speaking of the Vertebrats.....my friend Pete has some great pictures from the infamous "Pete's Party," otherwise known as the Guerilla Gig, on Facebook.  ahhhhh.....memories.....
