Let's see.....what's been going on? We're not big New Year's Eve people and although we got a good invite we ended up staying at home. I was tired which made sense when I woke up with a bit of a cold the next day. So we celebrated in a mild kind of way at home. Well, this is actually from New Year's Day, not New Year's Eve....in my beloved glasses from Gisela.....
and we got a babysitter for a bit the other day so we could visit Fries and Peanuts on our own....
Ernie felt the need to try the 'new' Schlitz although he went back to his standard Bass afterward....
Drove over to Stewart Pequignot's house today to pick up bagels. Judi had expressed a desire for REAL bagels so I checked Champaign Taste and found the information for ordering. Thank you Lisa! On the way back we drove through Lake of the Woods and admired the trees standing in the ice and then on the way home passed this amazing house.
Leo grumbled about the stops for pictures but I said, "Leo, you love me, right?" and when he nodded I said, "well, this is one of those things that make me me----just like you playing with Lego makes you you." He grumbled a little more but then chatted amiably about how old we thought the house was, etc.
There was some rascist graffiti inside the house that we could see as we were tromping around so I had to have a discussion with Owen about the n-word and the like. Man that boy is smart. Smart and sweet which I need to remember as I want to kill him of late.
Then we got home and I ATE one of the bagels. Oh man....I am just holding myself back from devouring more---they are wonderful. We got sesame, poppy seed, cinnamon/raisin and Judi's particular request---everything bagels!!! Highly recommended....
Overall it's been sort of a crappy week---it's sped by with more time than I wanted spent on errands and the like,( I'm not even adequately blogging the story of taking my mother to get something notarized without any ID), the boys have been a handful and I haven't felt great. Not exactly what I had wanted but just the same I look at my pictures and they make me happy so I guess there have been some bright spots as well. You just got to remember to find those bright spots. And if they are abandoned houses and sesame bagels---well, that's just fine. After all, my brightest spots of all are here in my house---even if I DO want to kill some of them occasionally.....
Happy New Year.
