The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tall Blonde Tree

Ernie recently recalled me chiding him for being really rude to a customer at the record store.  When I asked him why he was being particularly hostile he sneered, "that guy didn't deserve that cd."

cue to MANY years later....

Today all of a sudden I remembered goodie bags for Owen's party.  Fucking goodie bags.  I HATE them.  I defiantly said I wouldn't do them and my colleague Nancy calmly reminded me that the kids want them...not the adults.  So I googled goodie bags and read weird posts about the insane lengths people go to...however then we came up with the idea of a cd.  I thought this was brilliant---Owen could put his favorite songs on it----some Adam Schmitt, some David Olney (his current favorite song to sing around the house is "Sweet Poisen") and maybe the Motor City Rockers "Rotten Candy" (although the subject matter might not be appropriate).  Anyway, I thought this was a great idea----very Owen.  So I came home and broached the whole 'goodie bag' issue with Owen. He excitedly told me that he thought we should get Smarties and maybe a little toy.  Then I told him about my whole cd idea.

Huh.

He listened politely but when I asked him what he thought he apologetically said, "well, I don't think I like everyone else having my songs......"

Apples, anyone?
