Shadows on the Ground....

When our beloved Kane Welch Kaplin played at our anniversary party last fall we had just found out that Judi's cancer had returned a few days previous.  We had asked them to play because after finding that Ernie's cancer had returned that spring we wanted to live in the present and really celebrate.  But needless to say, as excited as we were, after the news about Judi we also felt a little raw.

I had always liked Kieran Kane's song, Shadows on the Ground, but when he played it that night it resonated with me more strongly than ever.  Since then that song has become kind of a talisman for me and I somehow associate it with both my pain and worry as well as my love for Judi and Ernie.  I play it over and over and over because that's just the kind of girl I am (makes Ernie crazy when I do that).

The only video I can find has embedding disabled (WHY, SHIRLEY, WHYYYYY?) but it is well worth it to click on the song title above to watch it.

Someday I'll tell Kieran how much this song has done for me.

Thank you Kieran.....and thank you Kane Welch Kaplin.  It's the song I am listening to tonight....over and over and over.....

The hospice nurse was out.  Judi's not really communicative tonight.
