Truly Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. I scanned this last fall but never posted it. It was at Thanksgiving---in Leo's class they were supposed to write notes to people for whom they were thankful. Ernie got one. Debbie got one. Me? uh, no...... But I love this so much it hurts---because Ernie helps me sort out situations when bad things happen too.
2. I was in somewhat foul mood last night. Overall, well, it's just been kind of crappy week. Nothing dreadful mind you....just crappy. I got home to all the paperwork from the lawyer about Judi's estate and that didn't help my mood. Ernie looked at me for awhile and then said, "walk down to Huber's with me....Ricky can watch the guys." So I took him up on it and he held my hand as we walked. We sat at a table and chatted, ate some peanuts, ran into a friend we don't really know but would like to (Hey Marcy) and my mood just turned itself right around. See what I mean about Ernie sorting out situations? Here he is standing in front of the candy selection (he's ordering me a glass of wine though, not choosing candy).
3. Had good news yesterday that some friends from Michigan are going to be in town soon and visit. I got the email and it said they were going to be in town for Berni's mother's 80th birthday. And I thought to myself----wowwwww....Berni's mother is EIGHTY? And THEN I thought, oh yeah, my mother is eighty TOO..... At least I can laugh at myself. Sometimes it just doesn't seem real that life is where it is....
4. Current State of Owen: he does a mean Gordon Ramsey impression....well, he and Ernie both do them at each other. I asked Leo if they did this all day and he sighed deeply and said yes. He loves the Long Ryders' Looking for Lewis and Clark and every time he is in the van he requests that it is played and played loudly. This morning he is busy singing Johnny Cash for me. Sometimes I just stare at him. Here he is last night as we got back from Huber's---complete with gun.
5. Current State of Leo: A little more cheerful of late....the warmer weather means he's outside playing for hours on end which does my heart good. He's actually agreed to take vitamins although he hates the orange ones....oh, and why do they make Flintstones vitamins when the kids don't know who the Flintstones are? I probably wouldn't eat the orange ones either....it's just like with popsicles... He slept with Ernie and me last night----very unusual and very nice (apart from the kicking of course). It's nigh impossible to get a picture of him. Here he is racing away from the camera in the radiation waiting room the other day.... He's a sweet and beautiful boy.....sometimes I just stare at him.
