Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  Owen told us a couple of kids at school were picking on him.  They were saying 'you're white and that's why you stink.'  Broke my heart.  We told him to just ignore them or to say, "I don't stink and it doesn't matter if I'm black or white."  Further discussion revealed that it's because his shoes stink.  Hell, his shoes DO stink.....he hates wearing socks so that made me feel like a bad mother.  Then yesterday he hugged me and told me that someone that wasn't his friend anymore had told him that he was fat and that I was fat.  He said he told him they could call him fat but they couldn't call his mother that.  That kind of broke my heart too.  geesh.

2.  Well, it's official.  I am filing for an extension on my taxes for the first time in my life.  I don't  know why I couldn't get it together but I just couldn't.  Filed for Judi as well.  Normally I do my taxes about February 1 because we get money back and because I kind of enjoy it in a sick kind of way.....  Just too much this year.

3.  I still have a wretched cold so last night I had my favorite having-a-cold-food:  take-out hot and sour soup.....

5. The City Museum has a permanent exhibit on Elmslie and Sullivan architectural details.  Owen thought it looked like a temple in Indiana Jones....he wished that things would start moving if you touched them.....  I agreed although I was just as happy things didn't start moving....
