Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. We went to Reading Night at the school last night. Leo was ADAMANTLY opposed to going but I said with gritted teeth.....'wearegoingandwe'regoingasafamilysopleaseputyourshoeson.' Owen was quite excited. I swear to god I get overwhelmed at these events....I so TOTALLY understand Leo. I walk around trying to follow the guys thinking that this is probably why you're supposed to have children younger or why the hell don't they serve wine at these events? Owen bought a couple of books, several girls said "HHHIIIIII Leo" but when I asked who they were he merely grunted "NO questions."
Of course we got downstairs too late to get pizza----a main componant of Owen's enthusiasm for the event. He held up pretty well with the disappointment and went to sit and listen to Mrs. Matthews read stories. It was really quite wonderful. Leo sat next to me holding up pretty well, merely saying "when do we get to leave? when do we get to leave? when do we get to leave?" every so often. Finally I took pity on him and we abandoned the two blondes. Unfortunately we missed the grand finale of alligator soup but Owen did perform it for me earlier so I guess I will live.
Leo refused up and down to tell me where the poetry cafe was and he seemed so upset at the idea of my seeing his poetry (not that I won't see it eventually but I didn't point that out to him) that I let it go and we turned it into a game of secrets and I got him to smile and giggle. Sometimes it's hard to know when to push and when to let it go.....
Of course when Owen got home we had to order some frigging pizza. The boys were all excited about something on tv so we let them watch it, left the money for the pizza with Owen and repaired to Judi's room to watch Hell's Kitchen by ourselves. It was really kind of nice. I love my husband.
2. I've been really tired the last couple of evenings. Usually I start these posts in the evening and finish them up in the morning but I haven't been able to of late. It's funny though----it feels like a physical tiredness and that's different than the tiredness I have felt during the last many months or year.....so it doesn't feel too bad.....
3. Ernie patched the mortor on our foundation yesterday bless him. The fucking garter snakes like to curl up in any holes. He said he did see one snake get kind of pissed looking for his lost holes so hopefully this will help. eughhhhh.....
4. Supposed to be warm and beautiful this weekend....I'm not sure my plans for moving bedrooms around will get done if I can garden instead. Although if I see a snake that will send me back in the house so we'll see....in the meantime here is one of our neighbor Dave's tulips....
5. Few things make me as happy as Mike Henderson.....here he is with the Bluebloods on a Jools Holland show....WORTH WATCHING....
