Random Notes for the Beginning of a Long Weekend....

1.  I just told Owen what the various plans are for the weekend....doing this, going there....and he gave a BIG sigh and said, "well on Memorial Day I want you guys to call Don and see if we can come over (another big sigh) because he's one of the best guys in the world."  He seemed a bit put out that we'd been keeping him away from Don.....  Geesh...SORRY Owen.....  I told him Don might be busy but we'd make sure he saw him soon....

2.  Leo did ATTEND the 3rd grade concert.  He was there in body...spirit....uh, not so much.  We managed seats in the front row and when Leo strode onto the little risers he glared and shook his fist at us.  I looked at Ernie and said, "did he just shake his fist at us?" and as we stared he did it again.  That made me quite happy but as things progressed he looked so sad I didn't even let Ernie take a picture for awhile.  Later on he perked up in his own way.  God I love that boy.  It's hard to see him in this little clip....he's in the second row in the middle wearing a green striped shirt.....just look for the green shirt and the feet in little topsiders that aren't moving a millimeter.....  The first grade classes got to come and sit in the front and watch so we also had Owen waving and smiling madly.  Man I love those guys....

Yesterday evening I let Leo have an extra ice cream sandwich because I told him I was proud of him for doing something he didn't want to do.  Even though he didn't sing he was up there when he didn't want to be and it's hard to do things we don't want to do....hence the extra ice cream sandwich.  I'm easy, aren't I?

3. The boys went over to a friend's house where they LOVE to go after school and so Ernie and I set off for the bank and met with a financial planner.  Pretty fucking exhausting....trying to figure out how to handle Judi's estate and admitting what terrible financial shape we are in.....  I think we were both exhausted afterwards.....when did we agree to be grown ups for Christ's sake?

4.  We picked up the guys and came home and collapsed in the yard and I whined about how hot it was....I'm sorry....87 is too frigging hot and it makes my peonies practically hurl their petals to the ground....

5. This morning Owen woke me up at 6:27 and asked if we were going to the farmers' market....and Leo didn't even complain about going....this is quite a turn around!
