Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  Congratulations to Kathryn Giesken.  She's the first recipient of the Judi Voelkl Scholarship.  It was presented on April 6, 2009 at the Honors and Awards Banquet held at the Madren Center in Clemson.  I know Judi was so pleased about the scholarship and I'm sure she would be pleased for Kathryn.  I can just imagine her smile.  She was such a believer in education.  Time moves on, huh?

2.  The director of the Cancer Center called me this afternoon to talk about my blow up last week.  Well, she was very, very kind and didn't call it that.....she called it interaction or something.  Anyway, I really appreciated the call, she apologized, we talked about it a bit and it did feel good to have it acknowledged.  I told her that I thought the nurse's apology had been very sincere---I'd just been too far gone to respond to it at that point.  Eh, I don't know.....the whole thing makes me feel off kilter.  I guess it boils down to I'm glad she called, I'm glad I said something in the first place, I wish I hadn't lost it.....two out of three I guess....

3. THEY PLANTED MY DOGWOOD TREES TODAY.  THANK YOU DENNIS!  I am so very happy.  I had to work late and when I came home my husband met me at the door with a glass of wine.  I wandered out into the yard and all of a sudden I saw the trees and screamed.  Thank you, thank you, thank you Dennis...they make me so happy. I walked up to the one with the pink blooms and said 'hi Judi...I love you.'  I probably sounded like an idiot but just the same....that's what I did....

4.  Then a mosquito bit me and I went in....

and my chives are just, well, CHIVING.  I think chive might need to be a verb....  Here they are.....tangled up in green....
