Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. More advice from me: if you realize as you are taking a shower that there is just a tiny bit of shampoo left and your very long haired husband is planning to take a shower after you-----don't be kind and leave the shampoo for him. And don't look through the various bottles in the bathroom and decide that the wig shampoo for natural hair wigs should work fine as you have natural hair on your head.... Just a teeny bit of advice....it's not a pleasant result....
2. I find that my little blow up in the Cancer Center the other day has really taken it out of me this week. As much as I feel pretty good of late I realize that I have no reserves. I'm never one to shake things off quickly (just ask my husband how long it takes me to get over an argument HA!). I need to process things----something which this blog really helps me do. But these days---when I get upset, as I did on Thursday, it shakes me to the core----even if it's not the most traumatic upset. Does that make any sense? I just feel as though I have no insulation, no reserves, no counterweight to keep me balanced anymore.... So then I spend a couple of days crying at the drop of a hat until I manage to regain my equilibrium. Hopefully I've done it.
3. Just came across this video---it's of Wreckless Eric and Amy Rigby---whom we are hoping will be playing at our house this summer.....I love this song off their album....I suppose the quote from Mott hooked me in a bit but the song itself did the rest.....and I imagine the man's ranting could be quite entertaining as well! These are the kind of rants that Ernie does but mostly I am the only one that hears him.... For years I've had people tell me that they think Ernie is so quiet and can't imagine him getting angry and I'm always like "WHO are you talking about?"
4. Oh and when you go to the first farmers' market of the season----get there when it frigging opens, o.k? Because when you don't get there until after 9:00 there are no greens to buy you're going to get really pissed....primarily at yourself....especially when you stand in line forever at one spot and watch someone buy the last damn bunch of swiss chard in front you. We finally did find the very last bunch of swiss chard in the place though, got some of Stan's smoked pork chops, some parsley plants and a ton of asparagus. We're having my mother over for dinner tomorrow so I think we'll have the pork chops and chard and mmmmm something else. Perhaps we'll feast on the asparagus tonight....
