Maine Is Waiting For Us...
Maine is waiting for us. And Ernie and I, Leo, Owen and Ricky---we're all waiting for Maine. We leave Thursday morning and drive to Buffalo, New York. Friday we drive to a friend's home outside of Portland, Maine and will stay with her and her husband..... She is a friend of Judi's who was incredibly good to her during her illness and now has become our friend. Not only are they letting us stay with them in their 200 year old house, they are going to feed us lobsters and steamers..... We are fortunate, no? Then on Saturday we head off to Lubec and meet my sister Debbie. I can't wait to see her and I can't wait to see the ocean.
The house we are staying at is the easternmost house in the United States and sits on twelve acres on the ocean. For some reason I wanted to go someplace new to us this year.... Of course I am spending lots of time obsessively looking at maps and things to do online but I'm trying to not to look at lots of pictures. I want it all to be new to my eyes....
We have lots to do.....I'm just in the midst of making lists.....but I'm not feeling too crazed about it. Sometimes I try to bring a lot of food supplies spices, etc. from home but I'm not worrying too much this year. We'll just make do with whatever we find. We have to hit up the library before we go and dig out some dvds and cds but other than that.....I don't much care. Leo has decided no Lego can leave our house so the boys' packing shouldn't be as complicated as usual.
Ernie and I spent a ridiculous amount of money at Target yesterday in preparation. Geesh. Oh well.
I'll worry about my mother when we're away but Debbie is kindly paying for her homecare worker to come in more often and I have friends that will check on her as well (I love you Sasha!).
I am just so very, very glad that Maine is waiting for me.
