Julie vs Julia vs Cynthia

I never go see movies.  The last movie I saw in a theater was the Indiana Jones movie and I was there with my sister Debbie, my mother, Ernie, Leo and Owen dressed in full Indiana Jones regalia.  So when I say that I want to see the Julia & Julie movie it means little to nothing.  Perhaps I'll eventually watch it on cable.

Julia Child.  My father used to love watching her cooking shows.  He would just cackle watching her.  Please note that my father is also the person I got my interest in cooking from.  My sister Judi gave my Dad one of the Julie Child cookbooks for a present back in the 70's and I may have it somewhere.  So Julia Child---wonderful yes, revolutionizing cooking in America yes....but can I just say I'm kind of getting tired of hearing about her?  Although to be fair....it's really not her I'm tired of....it's all the Julie bashing that seems to going on in so many reviews and blogs.  Hell, I haven't even read Julie Powell....I don't know if I'd enjoy her writing or not but I'm just irritated at the way this turned into a competition.  Woman against woman...."Julia Child said this about her" and "she's not respectful enough of Julia."  Irritates the shit out of me.  Julie vs Julia instead of Julie & Julia.

And so the reviews say the Julia Child story is the more interesting part of the movie.  Well, no SHIT and if that's anyone fault it's Nora Ephron's fault for pairing the two stories that way and not Julie Powell's.

There's something about this whole thing that reminds me of why I dropped out of Brownies.
