Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. Owen describing his first day of school: "it was AWESOME! I want to go back." Me: "uh, well you will....honey....like tomorrow." Even Leo was pretty chipper (came back with his shirt still inside out I will note) which for him is akin to great enthusiasm! One day down.....so far so good.....
2. It's VERY hard getting the boys to bed early....it will be a bit easier when it gets dark earlier..... When I got home Thursday evening there was a crowd of boys in the living room making plans for a video---a sequel to their train crash video..... Later they trooped upstairs and I could hear Leo bellowing, "PLACES everybody, PLACES. We're making a video here. Ricky and I are in command. Ricky is number one in command and I am number two. Now listen everybody....." And off he went....for being so quiet he seems QUITE comfortable with being in control.
"PLACES everybody, PLACES...."
It just cracked me up.
3. We just got back from the farmers' market. New strategy: bring two bags....one bag filled with 13 ears of corn, a few heirloom tomatoes, a lb of my favorite little orange cherry tomatoes, some blackberries, some potatoes, some peppered bacon and huge smoked pork chops from Triple S, our favorite lamb bratwurst, red and gold peppers and a couple of those little frying peppers....well it gets AWFULLY heavy....
4. Date for the Christmas Party Alert: Moved to Friday, December 4 because Kristi Rose and Fats have a chance to go to Rome later in the weekend.....how wonderful to be in Rome in December....AND at the time of their anniversary. We'll have to send them off happy and appreciated....and with some spending money!!!
5. Farmers' market note: is it a bad year for carrots or am I just off timewise? It seems as though last year at this time I was buying lots of different colored carrots. Or is it just the cool weather (heavenly 63 degrees as I type) that is throwing me off?
6. We have a Saturday with NO plans. Might try to go replace the boys' bikes.....also might go to Country Arbors to look at evergreens (supposed to be a mother's day present) and japanese maples (just because I like them and with our new sun/shade situation in our yard I think I have a spot....then I'm thinking do a little yard work and hanging out at the table in the front yard....I'm assuming a game or two of freeze tag for the boys.....maybe have a fire in the firepit in the evening.....
What do you think?
