Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  O.k., o.k., I decided I still love my children and they were pretty charming last night....they obviously knew they needed to redeem themselves.  However then this morning occurred.  Owen's new positive outlook and willingness to get ready for school in the morning...oh, and leave on time?  Out the window.  It lasted three whole days of the new school year.  It was intact until about five minutes before he should leave.  Dressed, fed, teeth brushed.....the only thing left was putting shoes on.....and down the hill we went.  I know we need to stay very calm and not react but easier said than done.  WAY easier said than done....

2.  Bad parent alert:  Leo had to sit out PE because he didn't have the right shoes on.  Damn.....if only I'd known that's all it took to get to sit out of gym class when I was in school.....

3.  Owen still finds our bathroom rather scary.  The other day he called me in because he said he was hearing bumps upstairs.  I assured him that it was our cat Hattie to no avail.  He told me he thought it was a ghost.  Finally, as he stared up at the ceiling listening intently, his face suddenly cleared and he said with great relief, "ohhhhhh, it must be Judi.....she's probably exercising."  And with that he was fine.

4.  Ernie and I are off to the Cancer Center.....Infusion Day....

5.  Did I tell you that we got a little Japanese maple?  He's just a little baby but he's very sweet.....
