Summer Is Fading....

We’re moving into the last days of summer.  I know, I know….it’s only the first week of August…….but given that school starts for the guys two weeks from today….it feels as though fall is on the way.  I’m already thinking about getting the boys to bed earlier so they can get ready for getting up and out of the house by 7:30….and God knows I need to buy them some new clothes….the lightning bugs have pretty much gone by....the gold finches and hummingbirds are feasting on the flowers in the yard. 

Ernie registered the guys for school yesterday.  Owen’s teacher will be the same teacher Leo had in second grade.  Owen was thrilled as Leo loved Mr. Hanson and anything that makes Owen happy about school makes ME happy so that’s all good.  I don’t know anything about Leo’s teacher….hopefully it will work out well.  Teachers usually like Leo, other kids usually like Leo….it’s just him liking them BACK that is sometimes an issue.  My greatest hope for the school year, far and beyond any academic concerns, is that Leo connects with some of the kids in his class as friends….he’s got other good friends but he needs someone at school as well….

Time just seems to be speeding by…..I went through my calendar yesterday, adding in appointments and the like and it seems as though Thanksgiving is just around the corner and after that summer again and next thing you know Leo will be in COLLEGE!  Shocking to think that I’ve had him in our house probably more than half the time he will live with us….

Back to the present Cynthia…..back to the present…..and the present is pretty good despite the fact that it’s supposed to be 94 tomorrow.  Maybe we’ll have to pull the fallen tree off our little pool so we can get in it…..
