Always Loved

I updated my calendars today….marking the days the boys don’thave school and when I’m off work for the holidays and as I did so I wasoverwhelmed by the thought that it’s coming up on a year from when Judi movedin with us.

It was October….I went down for a day or two and then wedrove up here, taking two days because she was so exhausted.  We got back here on Halloween.  Leo was Han Solo and Owen was, ofcourse, Indiana Jones.  They werebeyond excited between having Aunt Judi here AND it being Halloween.  It seems so long ago and they seem somuch older now.  I guess we allseem older now.  I FEEL older now.

And now poor little Abby is dead.  Abby was a huge cat with skinny stick like legs.  Sarah (my Mom’s homecare worker) alwayscalled her Fat Abby.  So today whenErnie went over to my Mom’s to bury Abby, Sarah made a sign that said “Fat Abby”and below that it said, “Always Loved” and put it on the grave.

Always loved.

That’s something.

The weekend was good albeit somewhat exhausting.  I think Owen is still not feeling 100%as he was awfully tired (hence whiny thank you very much).  At one point though as I was laying onthe bed in the hotel room watching them excitedly build Lego together---showingeach other the highlights of the new sets-----I said to them, “Are you guysgoing to remember this weekend forever?” And they turned and said, “OH YES” with big grins.

Always loved.
