Labor Day....and My Friend Bob.....
Labor Day.
Celebratory three day weekend marking the end of summer.
Ha!
Not particularly celebratory around these parts.....
Owen sick on Saturday and Sunday.....Leo took the fall today.....gave up the fight midway during the Labor Day parade......I walked him back to my mother's house and got him settled on the couch with a pillow. Ernie and Owen had wandered down the street so my poor mother was stuck with watching one sick boy politely refuse candy even when it was directly offered to him----for half the parade. Wonderful. I still didn't feel very good either so we bailed on my poor mother for lunch although I threw together a quick plate of shrimp and kale and tomatoes for her dinner before we left.
It's all o.k. though....God knows we've had MUCH worse weekends. Owen seems better today......although I doubt Leo will be going to school tomorrow. Me, I'm off to work tomorrow no matter how I feel.
There are bright spots however. Below are two video clips for my dear friend Bob. The first is of my beloved Peter Case playing his first show since his heart surgery (you can still donate to cover his expenses.....frigging health care). One of Bob's standard phrases is "people in hell want ice water" which always cracks me up and makes his wife roll her eyes. Anyway....as soon as I heard this I thought of him....

And then.....I MUST post a David Olney Ustream video of him talking about his song Jerusalem Tomorrow. If you don't know the song....it's freaking amazing....as I've said before it can make me weep and I don't know why.....or don't want to.... Anyway....those are my treats for Bob....and you.
Happy Labor Day.
