Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. By the time I get home from work and time spent at the hospital I'm pretty much brain dead. This has led to some less than stellar feed-the-kids-some-macaroni-and-cheese-and-I'll-think-about-dinner-later kind of evenings. This in turn leads to an evening of cheese popcorn for me and leftovers for Ernie.....or in the case of last night plans for a meal aborted halfway. I was planning to do a pasta with roast cauliflower and brie and god know what else. Instead I threw the cauliflower on a plate and heated up some kielbasa leftover from my cassoulet ingredients. The cauliflower saved the effort (or lack thereof) however....
2. They moved my mother to a different unit as she'd been on a cardiac floor and her heart is doing fine. I spoke to her early this morning and she was down....I don't really know what the hell to think. She'll have dialysis again today. That's where I am.....I just don't know what to think and I'm too tired for the rollercoaster ride.... My mother is still intent on going back home....she's worried about who will take her to dialysis. I told her not to worry about that now.....that's one of those proverbial bridges we don't have to cross now....
3. We brought my mother's cat Annie home with us. So far she's spending all her time in the basement but has started to make a few forays up into Bob and Hattie land.....
4. Tonight I'm going to try a recipe with chicken breasts, lemon and sage. My sage plants are so undeniably enthusiastic that I figured I should use some. The recipe calls for 28 sage leaves so it's a start....
5. Yesterday when I was at the hospital I was digging through my purse and came across the office phone from work. huh.
6. I believe I have sunk into a pit of dullness. My apologies for sharing this dullness with you. But the cauliflower and sage are pretty, right?
