Christmas Eve Approaches
Well, Owen won his campaign for him and Leo to open their presents this morning. Judi was always the one who couldn't wait to open presents----she was the only one of us who ever peaked in the middle of the night. So it was in honor of her that I agreed and let Owen drag me out of bed earlier than I wanted. They had cleared the dining room of all Lego which had been the deal so..... They were thrilled with their gifts for each other and I was proud of them. They immediately set to putting their Lego together and then Leo curled up with his new books.
And yes, I DID get some new pajamas for Leo so his knees won't hang out....
Ernie built a fire in the fireplace, we're listening to Christmas songs and I'm scouring the internet for recipes for duck breast. My father was known to sometimes hand out madeira on holiday mornings and sing "Have some madeira m'dear" so we used two of his early blown wineglasses and drank a toast to him.
In a few minutes I need to start the meat pie filling and the cranberry sauce. Then take the boys out to get a present for Ernie and buy some duck breasts and the like. We'll head to my mother's house for dinner tonight and I think she's going to come over here for Christmas tomorrow....
Leo said we should be sure to have dinner tonight early so we can go to bed early----to give Santa more time you know. Owen's been rambling about Santa and asking me if he's real. Then he explains that he knows we don't do it because we would never buy them that many presents.... Here he is acting out how he SAW Santa Claus one time when he came downstairs in the middle of the night.... Note: please ignore the messy purple chair....oh and look at Hattie...she loves to sit in front of the fire....
Merry Christmas all.....
