Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  Monday already?  Huh.  A bit of snow on the ground to make me happy though.....and still a bit of party glow hanging on.....   I already loved Doug Fink but I love him just a teeny bit more for sending this to me just now and starting off my Monday pretty damn nicely.....  the glorious Kristi Rose and Fats Kaplin at our house:

2.  People were incredibly generous....Heather and Steve brought me wonderful gifts.....can you just imagine how this Cherry Almond Jam of hers tasted on one of Ernie's homemade biscuits the next day?

 

3.  Last night I tried to come up with a way to have my mother at her home instead of the nursing home.  I just ended up in frustrated tears.  Debbie is going to call them about a few issues today. It is so wonderful to have her here to do that.....sigh.

4.  In the weird and wonderful way of the blog, I got a really lovely email yesterday from an old girlfriend of Ernie's.  When I announced that to the room Owen's jaw just about dropped to the ground and he almost tumbled off his chair.  "DAD......you had a GIRLfriend?" he asked in amazement and then howled and howled and howled and HOWLED with laughter.  He thought it was one of the funniest things he'd ever heard.....  God I love that boy.

5.  In the weird and wonderful way that is my sister Debbie  she took the boys to Toys R Us, Barnes and Noble and McDonald's yesterday.  She still seemed to be in one piece when she got home and the boys were quivering with excitement.  QUIVERING.  She did note that the McDonald's play area was rather, uh....LOUD but she seemed to survive it all.  She is an amazing aunt.  As Owen said, "she's crazy....but in a GOOD way."

6.  I suppose that could be the catchphrase for our life overall.....crazy....but in a GOOD way.....

7.  I was taken with how the snow outlined where this leaf had been lying....  O.k. everybody....onward to the week......
