Spring Cure and Other Notes
Oh man I'm having fun thinking about the house for the Apartment Therapy Spring Cure. Ernie and I used to always have some project or plan for the house but that's kind of fallen by the wayside in the last several years so this feels good. It feels like us.
We looked over some of the images I had pulled off online that I liked and Ernie seemed to agree with most of it. We've been together so long that our tastes have kind of merged at this point. Looking at all of them together was interesting as there definitely were some things that stood out. First off one of the most appealing things to me seems to be simplicity. Ha! Hard to achieve in our house but perhaps in certain areas. I also am starting to lean toward white walls after many years of color although that being said---I still love color.
I liked these two bedrooms....
All the bedrooms in our house are pretty tiny. There are four of them which is nice but they are small. Our bed has a black metal headboard and footboard and we're bringing an 19th Century Empire dresser from my mother's house. I'm leaning towards painting the woodwork in our bedroom white. Almost all of the upstairs woodwork has been painted. In our room it was stripped at some point but not a very good job and I think it might look better painted. Color of the walls? To be determined....
Last night I woke up in the middle of the night and could NOT sleep. My mind was just whirling and I felt overwhelmed by the WEIGHT of all our possessions and the ones coming into our house. So no wonder I want a little more simplicity....it's definitely a good time to consider it.....
In other useless news about our life: Ernie and I ran errands after work and then stopped for a drink at Fries and Peanuts last night. We forgot that it was St. Patrick's Day so it was packed. We found a spot in the other room though and then got to meet someone I'd corresponded but not met in person so it turned out to be a nice treat (hi Tim). We got home and I started dinner and managed to burn the hell out of my finger (hot cast iron pan...a little too much olive oil because it was the last of the bottle---why the hell couldn't I leave some in the bottle?.....vegetables dropped in from a little too high up....) so I spent the rest of the evening making people fill my little plastic bag of ice cubes. The boys were in disgrace so they lost computer/video game/tv privileges for 48 hours. I'm tempted to just pack the video games away for a week but then I thought of spring break next week and poor Ernie....hmmmmm. We'll see.
Of course if I do that I will miss seeing this. Owen decided that when he plays Mario Bros. he should try to look like Mario.
