Three Down....Four to Go

Last night Leo was laying in his bed reading and I was down the hall reading in my bed.  I felt the need for a hug and a kiss so I yelled at him to get down to my end of the hall and kiss me.  He cheerfully did and as I hung onto him (he's not known for snuggling) I brushed his hair off his face and told him I'd been thinking about Grandma.  Thinking about how much I missed her and about how special he was to her.  He nodded seriously and then said, "yeah....three down, four to go."

God that boy can shock me.

Yes.  Three down:  my dad, my sister and my mother.  Four to go: Ernie, me and the boys.

I fumbled about in my mind and said, "well yeah but all four of us are doing fine you know."  He agreed and then said, "actually five because of Aunt Debbie."  He kissed me again and darted off, just pausing in the hall to say, "well, actually it's more than five."  I said, "that's right because we've got Uncle Dennis and Uncle Michael and Aunt Cheryel and other people that love us."  He nodded, told me he loved me and ran back to his bed and I just laid there thinking 'three down....four to go.'

huh

Man I love that boy.  He lets so little out but there is SO much inside.  I just want to reach inside him and turn his worry into a beautiful soft color.
