Needing to Shake Some Action
We had to turn in the Honda for some work (let's all cross fingers it doesn't cost too much). I told Ernie he could drive it to the Honda place and I would follow in the van. Most days I take the Honda and usually if we go out together we take that as well so I'm hardly ever in the van these days. It has a tape deck, no cd player. So when I got in and started it.....what immediately started playing? A mid- 70s mix tape of Ernie's....beginning with Shake Some Action. Good LORD but it sounded good and it made me smile and laugh at the thought of Ernie and the guys running around town listening to this. And the sound....it's an OLD tape and it's got this thick, bass-y sound....I love it!!
I'm in a slightly better mood today. I think I was just feeling overwhelmed yesterday. Last night after work Ernie took me to Huber's for a drink and we sat there and chatted, had some popcorn and then talked to our 80+year old neighbors about their travel plans....and it just cheered me right up.
It's time to make a list:
- call lawyer--schedule meeting or phone call to discuss estate issues
- download turbotax
- work on taxes--get Ernie to pull together sales figures and cost of goods sold
- get estimates to ship stuff to Debbie
- try not to worry about all the bills that it looks like we're going to get because Medicare denied Health Alliance's appeals that my mother needed more than one doctor visit per day while she was dying.
- tell myself that it's really o.k. if I don't follow every week of the Spring Cure---it's not supposed to stress you out.
- find birth certificates for everybody so we can get passports in time for our trip to Maine
- call the guy who did work for Mom to haul away the huge pile of brush we have in our yard
- try to find out the cheapest place to get a couple of loads of mulch (any ideas local people?)
- get paint chips for Owen's room (he's moved away from camouflage and now wants red walls...hmmmm) because I really want to paint our bedroom but I promised Owen we'd paint his room first.
Most important of all though.....we get to go see Kane Welch Kaplin in Ohio this weekend. They will make EVERYthing better!
