Sunday Recap a Day Early and David Olney Hats Available....

This isn't a Sunday recap as it's only Saturday but for some reason it feels like Sunday today to me.  Maybe because I was supposed to work at my mom's house on Saturday and didn't do it.  Something about the rainy morning made being at home sound delightful and trying to clear out my mother's house depressing so decided to indulge myself.

Ernie and I went over to PACA and nosed around.  I got an old light fixture for the dining room.  $15....I've got my fingers crossed that it will work.  Picked up a couple of other things----old switchplates and the like.  Then we went to Meijer's and picked up a few more things.  Ernie thinks it's scary shopping with me....I guess we spent more than he usually does.  BUT I came home with a couple of bags of limes to put in an old compote, a new lampshade, TWO bunches of tulips, a pot of basil, lots of asparagus, some dill and some parsley and then all the stuff we actually needed.  It was great fun!

So I think I'm done with my Spring Cure tasks for the week.  They were simpler for us this week.  To review:

- Vacuum, dust, and mop (wet or dry) throughout your home.
O.k....well, so far we've done the first floor.  Hopefully will get upstairs done by the end of the weekend.

- Clean your entrance and any related closets.
Well we got lucky here so to speak as we have virtually no entryway and no closets either.

- Arrange to have all repairs taken care of in the next three weeks.
Someone is coming this week to put in the electrical outlet near the front door that we've wanted ever since we moved in here.  WOO-HOOOOO!  Ernie also had our furnace and a/c checked out.

- Declutter your entrance.
Well, again, we have no entrance to speak of----you walk in the door and you are plunged into the living room.  I'd LOVE to have a little entry hall.....much less a closet!

- Move all old mail, catalogs, and magazines to the Outbox.
We're pretty much done with this.  You would not believe how much mail I get now as I get all my mother's mail and things from whatever mailing lists Judi was on.

- Look into what you would need to create a Landing Strip.
This was our biggest project of the week.  Ernie moved the Lego Millenium Falcon, which had been to the left of the front door, at the foot of the staircase, up into Leo's room at long last.  Leo took it pretty well.  Then we put the old dresser we were going to try to put in Owen's room (except for that memory issue you know) in that spot.  I've got a lamp there----I've always wanted light there but there wasn't an outlet.  I'm not thrilled with the shade but it will do for now.  I've got a little letter holder for mail and then put out the boys' silver baby mugs (yes, they are very tarnished), a jar of Judi's antique Bennington type marbles and a little pottery tray that I tend to use for all sorts of things.  And I gotta say we've been doing WAY better with our mail.  We sort it when we get it, throw out all the junk and leave it in the letter holder.  I told Leo it was a Landing Strip and he thought that was quite amusing and said they'd be landing their Lego planes there (he was on some kind of Science Project completion high so he was sillier than normal).

- Identify cool rooms and warm rooms.
pretty easy in our house....

- Apply the 80/20 color rule.
HA!  This is supposed to be that your rooms are 80% neutral and 20% strong color.  HA. HA. HA.  Not my style I'm afraid.

- Cook two meals at home this week.
n/a again....can't even remember a time when I cooked only two meals at home during a week....

- Design an invitation for yourhousewarming.
n/a again....but we do have plans for another house concert up our sleeves.....

In other extremely good news David Olney has a new album coming out in a little over a week.  Woo-HOOOOO!  I highly recommend that you start following him on twitter as they're doing 13 days of Olney until the new record (yeah, yeah, I know....they're still records to me) comes out.  Today was a free download of One Tough Town.  You can also preorder his cd-autographed, autographed with hand written framed lyrics of one of the songs (yes, we're suckers) OR an autographed cd with an authentic David Olney hat (only four available).  God he makes me happy!
