Day Six: Sunburn Watch
Yeah. Day Six. My face just looks slightly peely....you wouldn't even notice a sunburn if you talk to me....well, at least if you talk to me with my clothes on. If you happen to see the tops of my breasts however----the parts that don't really see the light of day all that much but were exposed my my swimming suit? Well they look like two steaks bubbling up on a hot grill. Even Owen had to agree last night as he watched me put some aloe vera on them yet again. He said, "well, no offense, Mom, but they do kind of look like that. Sorry." Yup. I can't decide whether it hurts more to wear a bra or not. Given my...um...stature....let's just say that my breasts are not the most...mmmm....STATIONARY parts of my body and when they move....like say, when I walk....they FREAKING HURT. The bra helps a little but then you have to put up with straps cutting into the little blisters bubbling up all along where the straps of my bathing suit had been. Or, you can push the straps down over your shoulder which leaves you feeling oddly constrained. Oh, yeah...and I forgot to mention that all the little bubbles on the steaks, particularly the big ones along the edge...well, they're blisters. Let's all say it together: CYNTHIA, YOU ARE AN IDIOT.
Well, apart from that it's Friday and life is generally good. James McMurtry was great last night and I got to hang out with Ann and Bob and Mary and Ray. Four of my favorite people. Oh, and my husband. I rather like him as well.
Here's one of my favorite people standing on one of my favorite sidewalks (honestly---these are great sidewalks) in front of one of my favorite buildings on one of my favorite streets. HA!
and the clouds bubbling up behind the Highdive:
Hey, at least it's FRIDAY. Owen wants to go see the Beat Kitchen tomorrow night at the Champaign Music Fest or whatever it's called because his beloved Mr. Mclaughlin will be playing. Leo and I have NOT been invited. Definitely not invited. When I said that seeing them sounded good Owen looked a little sorrowful but said, "well....just me and Dad Mom.....no offense" Ernie wants to see the Finchley Boys and maybe Lonely Trailer as well. I can't decide whether to BE offended and say, "no, wait....I want to go tooooooo" or just say what the hell, sit in the air conditioning with Leo and wave good bye. Hmmmm. Either one sounds pretty good.....
