Moving Along and Enjoying Summer
Good LORD but I like summer when it's like this.....upper 70's sunny, cool at night.... Last night it was just lovely sitting in the front yard. We hung out, listened to Ernie's interview with James McMurtry (which will be in Smile Politely next week as he's playing at the High Dive on the 8th). Ernie grilled a selection of sausages: cheddar brats, green onion, cherry honey and hot Italian. I'm thinking of doing a mixed grill of sausages and maybe chicken for our party on the 14th so I stopped by Old Time Meat and Deli on the way home from work and picked a selection of their sausages to try. We were quite pleased and Owen pronounced it the best bratwurst ever. Then I actually got to watch a whole Top Chef without any interruption. A MIRACLE. Afterwards we went and sat in the yard, ate our dinner in the dark, while watching Ricky and some other neighbors shoot off fireworks. The lightnings bugs danced around but they are getting slower and there aren't as many.... Summer really IS moving along.
Oh, and then, this morning my friend Richard sent me this delightful video of Ian Hunter doing a song with Alejandro Escovedo last night.... I sort of like it when he tells the drummer to pick it up. Thank you Ian....I was thinking the same thing myself! Wonderful....absolutely wonderful....
