Nancy Kerrigan Revisited and Other Evening Notes

Remember when Nancy Kerrigan's knee got whacked  right before the Olympics?  It was absolutely horrible but do you also remember how you got so tired of the news replaying that clip of her screaming "WHY, WHY, WHY?"

Well.....Owen's video game data was corrupted and he lost all his points or data or whatever it is they get---when he was reportedly almost all the way through the game.  I swear it was a good solid hour of "WHY, WHY, WHY?  His agonized screaming just went on and on and all I could think of was Nancy Kerrigan.  I alternated between trying to be sympathetic and helping Leo figure out the sum of the angles of a 50 sided polygon.

Last night all the men of the household were a tad grumpy.  I was so tired I couldn't figure out what to cook but I ended up taking some chicken thighs and browning then and then pouring a couple cups of white wine (I didn't have chicken stock) over them and baking them till they were done.  Then I took the chicken out and threw in about a cup of green and black olives, roughly chopped, a good handful of walnut and a bunch of chopped swiss chard.  Cooked it down for a bit and poured it over the chicken and some boiled potatoes.  It was pretty great----the walnuts totally mellowed the olives.

That was my sole succes of the evening although we did figure out the sum of the angles of the 50 sided polygon.

Some nights are just better than others.
