Video Games, Antiques and Watching the Scorchers on YouTube
Well, the Scorchers cured my cold Friday night but it sprang full blown come Saturday and today. Owen's got a bad cough too so we've been pretty lazy. And I must say my baby has taken VERY good care of me....bringing me two cups of ice water at a time so I wouldn't run out, etc. I've also had a bit of work to do so it's been a quiet weekend. Guitar lesson and lunch at Fries and Peanuts, more work, MORE video games (I'm a terrible mother) and then we watched some Michael Jackson movie I got from Netflix last night before bed....gotta keep that baby happy. Today we'd planned to run some errands but I felt too rotton and he was delighted to use it to scam me into letting him play more video games. He's REALLY good at it. I'll think I've drawn a firm line and somehow all of a sudden we're on the other side of it.... Hmmmm.
I talked to Ernie and Leo. They've had a fabulous time but a TERRIBLE antique show. Yeah, let's just hand some money out to people---it would be more efficient. This fall show isn't normally as good as spring but shows just aren't what they used to be. Selling antiques even ten years ago was a totally different animal....at least for us and what we sell. My taste is not appropriate to my age. I should be into mid-century stuff----instead I like mid NINETEENTH century. I'm like the Marty Stuart of antiques. I got into it at a really young age and grew up with some greats but now I'm set to make music, oops, I mean sell antiques, more appropriate to a different generation. O.k.....that's not true because Marty is making some incredible music for us....but I think you get my point. Of course I'm a traditionalist and I'm stubborn....much like my eldest son....and God knows you bear the fruit of whatever you flower. So anyway.....sometimes I wonder if we should just give it up....but then again....Ernie made a great buy at the show....and if you can't sell....you can always buy!
I've got a weird pork and vegetable stew bubbling on the stove because cooking on Sundays always makes me feel better. I was too tired to find a recipe so we'll see how it turns out but it can't be too bad...pork shoulder steaks sauteed in smoked paprika, sweet paprika, thyme and fennel along with a bunch of vegetables----tomatoes, beautiful red, yellow and orange carrots, green, red and scarlet peppers, onions and garlic. I didn't have chicken stock so I threw in some beer....I'll taste it in awhile and see what else it needs.
When I felt rotton on Friday morning this is the video that convinced me that we HAD to go see Jason and the Scorchers. And boy was I right....thank you to Nancy for telling me that if I didn't take Owen to see the Scorchers she would call DCFS. God it helps when you have the right friends....
