Advent is here... Christmas is Coming....and Fats and Kristi Rose too!
O.k....I put in that part about advent for Fats because I know he hates it if we rush the season. But between the snow and their new Christmas album I do feel like the season is here!
Next Saturday, 6:00 at our house....look on facebook or email for details. We would LOVE to have anyone that wants to be there. One of the wonderful things about having music in our house has been meeting people that love it as we do.
We're doing an appetizer/dessert potluck. And I'm proud of myself because I'm keeping it very simple. Part of that is because our house is in an outlandishly horrid state of disaster....between holiday decorating mess (were three trees REALLY a good idea?) and all the stuff we're still dragging back from my parents' house (sigh). It's just crazy over there. Today Ernie said everything from the basement was out but then he doublechecked the tool bench and found a little tea tin full of family pictures that I'd never seen. Ay yi yi.....
Anyway....so my plans for appetizers (because you KNOW I don't bake) are an array of dips/toppings (tapenade, marinated cheeses, smoked salmon dip and something else.....) with breads and crackers and vegetables. Then I might do a glazed ham with some mustards and rye bread and then maybe a big bowl of popcorn...... Do I put curry powder on the popcorn or not? Anyway....I AM keeping it simple because it's all I can do and stay sane....but I gotta say.....I can't wait. It will be a wonderful party despite my lack of effort. I can't wait to see everybody!
For those of you who haven't seen Fats and Kristi Rose....they are impossible to adequately describe....either their talent or their equally prodigious charm....or the way Kristi Rose can take over a room. I'm sitting here listening to the Christmas album (as the boys squabble in the other room and Ernie does dishes and mutters about how horrible the kitchen is) and.....it's just....well, it's just perfect.....
