Random Christmas Eve Eve Notes

1.  Yes, it's the Eve of Christmas Eve....and I don't have to go back to work until the NEW YEAR!  Woo-hoooooo!!  Hats off to Reduced Service Days!

2.  My beloved Jim and Diana sent this to me and gave me my first laugh of the day!!  How fitting!

3.  The other night we were watching something on tv...it must have been a Christmas movie because Leo was there too....anyway, there was a Viagra joke.  So Owen of course asked me what it was.  I guess it's just as well that I was there as Ernie would have just said, "ask your mother."  I started out with something vague like "it's for men that need help having sex."  Leo, God love him, would have just nodded and we could have moved on....but not Owen.  He kept asking questions and I kept getting more and more detailed until finally Owen scrunched up his face and said, "Are you sure you should be telling me this?  I'm just a kid you know."  Sigh.

4.  Yesterday I got off work mid-afternoon.  Ernie picked me up and  we did our LAST Christmas shopping and then snuck in a drink at Fries and Peanuts.  Afterwards we came home to our boys, I nibbled some Christmas cookies that they had made, Owen helped me wrap the present that I had overnighted from Amazon (only $3.99 if you sign up for a trial of Prime Membership---and you can click the 'do not auto renew' box) and then I sat down in the media room where Ernie was watching......Roadhouse.  Now, I had never been introduced to the joys of Roadhouse.  I had always heard it was a classically atrocious movie but still......I had no idea.  Owen eventually joined us and we howled with laughter through it all.  Owen would cue me in to cover my eyes and ears if it got too bloody.  Owen also said, "I like the old guy," meaning Sam Elliott, and I said, "oh Mommy does too honey, Mommy does too" so he hit me.

5.  When you sit at the iMac here at the kitchen peninsula there's a heater vent right below your feet. Mmmmmm.

6.  The plans for the day?  Mmmmm....a few Christmas cookies, plan the Christmas dinner menu, wrap a present or two.....and lots of Christmas music!

7.  Speaking of Christmas music.....you can hear Fats Kaplin and Kristi Rose doing songs from their Christmas album on WDVX out of Knoxville.  You can listen live at 11:00 CST.  Perfect!

8.  Judi used to always make these Refrigerator Shortbread Cookies.  The recipe calls for nuts although for some reason we never put them in.  Thanks to Ernie and the boys for making these this year!
