Just a Couple of Random Notes from the Sandwich Life
1. Lately I've been listening to the radio as I drive to and from work because I have yet to restock the car with music other than Christmas music--or things I've played to death. There's currently a radio commercial for some cancer center/hospital that, well, it absolutely enrages me. You hear a worried voice saying something like, "well, I'm worred about your diagnosis of pancreatic cancer too, let's look online." Then you hear them tap, tap, tap on the computer keys, then slowly, as if reading aloud, saying, "oh look, so and so has the best care for pancreatic cancer." Then in a tone of relief they say they feel so much better since now they know where to go. And it absolutely makes me LIVID.
I'm not sure exactly why. Maybe because I know when a cancer diagnosis comes for a loved one how absolutely overwhelmed you are with both emotion and information....and this makes it sound similar to a hunt for a special ingredient for a upcoming dinner party. I don't know. Do I want to hear the pain and panic that comes with a diagnosis like pancreatic cancer come blaring out of the radio? Well, no and I understand the need to advertize....but for whatever reason....that commercial just sets my teeth vibrating.
Hmph.
2. So now Leo is sick. Sigh. Of COURSE. His eyes look even bigger and more beautiful when he's sick, my poor sweet pea. And bad mother that I am I considered trying to take a picture of him because I thought perhaps he wouldn't have the energy to get his hand in front of his face as fast. I restrained myself though. I must admit to selfishly hoping this doesn't throw off our plans to go see Dale Watson tomorrow...and Leo has an appointment we've been waiting months for tomorrow.... Cross your fingers.
3. Last night Owen was sitting on the couch with me and he said he was hot. He paused and said, "maybe I'm having a hot flash." Cracked me up. I actually don't have hot flashes but Ernie does (because of his treatment) so of course the poor guy would think he could have a hot flash.
4. I'm on a cabbage kick of late....and they're so damn beautiful to boot.....
