Grey Weekend...and a Community Forum
Man, I just could not get it together this weekend. Owen was still sick Friday night and I think I've been fighting the same thing he has so we blew off going to see Justin Townes Earle. And even though it was the right decision I felt bad missing it----feeling as though live music might have just kicked me into a different gear. My friend Tim says it wasn't as great as some past shows have been though...for which I am selfishly glad. Saturday we attempted to run errands....and shop. I'm a lousy shopper but I thought to myself that it made more sense to just go buy things in the stores rather than order stuff online. So I managed to buy one thing off my list and came back home and ordered everything online. Then we went and looked at tile and I ended up going home and finding what I want online. It was just one of those days. Ernie and I made gumbo (the man makes a mean roux), had a fire in the fireplace and I went to bed early.
I woke up Sunday and just never could get myself into the right mood. I was out of sorts for no apparent reason. We went out to lunch and poor Owen almost fell asleep at the table so I guess he's still not feeling perfect. I ended up watching half of the Grammy's but once Owen got too tired to make comments on the music it wasn't really fun anymore so I got into bed and read. I'm on an 80s memoir kick. I just read Belinda Carlisle's book (basically a waste of time---didn't get a sense of the period or other people she dealt with). Now I'm on Gary Valentine's New York Rocker. The writing is better and you get some sense of the scene. I've never been the biggest Blondie fan though, except for a song here and there. It's my latest vice though----wasting money on trashy books about rock and roll for my kindle.
Bleh.
On a DIFFERENT note. This Wednesday---5:30 p.m. at the I-Hotel...Community Forum. Here's the info:
Guest speakers will be talking about their involvement in the community. This is an open forum discussion about issues facing Champaign. When guest speakers are finished, people in attendance will have a chance to ask questions and participate. This event is free and open to the public.
When: Wednesday, February 16, 2011 from 5:30‐8:30pm (informal gathering time is from 5:30‐6:30 pm) speakers begin at 6:30 pm
Where: The IHotel and Conference Center in the Quad Room
Guest speakers will include: AFSCME representative, Jamar Brown, Eric Bussell, Firefighter representative, Don Gerard, and Tanya Parker.
