Slightly Stuffed Up, A Little Tired, Glad It's Friday Random Notes

1.  Yesterday morning Owen tried to convince me that he was still sick enough to stay home.  I was so proud of myself for standing firm and saying, "no, you are GOING to school." 

A couple of hours later his teacher called and they sent him home. 

Sigh.

Epic fail, as Leo would say.  Although Owen enjoyed pointing out my guilt he magnanimously forgave me as well.  He had a fever again last night so he's home once more today.  He's not horribly sick but just sick enough.....

2.  I was wiped out as well yesterday.  I don't know why I've found this week so tiring, I really don't.  I guess the bit of cold that is hanging on, the worry...and relief...about Ernie's psa.  Maybe it's just February...and feeling a bit overwhelmed by my to-do lists at home and work.  I need to focus-focus-focus on a productive weekend. 

3.  I'm thinking gumbo for the Pat DiNizio show.  Whaddya think?  Any recipe suggestions?

4.  A gorgeous video of Kristi Rose and Fats Kaplin....perfect for a winter day....

5.  The flowers I got for muttering to Ernie on the day after the blizzard, as I headed out to the car, "time was, you would have been scraping that car and pulling it up to the door for me."  Lord, I love that man.
