Moderate Grumpiness Put In Its Place By Japan
Reasons I find myself moderately grumpy this morning:
1. I have to work an evening event tonight
2. I can't go to the mayoral debate because I have to work
3. I ran into a chair and hurt my toes when I got up
4. Ernie spilled coffee on Owen
5. Owen thought he had third degree burns. He didn't.
6. Convincing Owen of this fact made me miss part of Don Gerard's interview on WCIA
7. The time I took rubbing my sore toes, convincing Owen he didn't have third degree burns and watching Don on tv made me not have enough time to take a shower and wash my hair and even though that's o.k. right now I know I'll be pissed about it later in the day
8. I'm anxious to hear the results of Ernie's x-ray of his hip
9. I wish we had more people rsvping for Phil Lee
But honestly, except for #8, I really can't complain. Watching what is going on Japan does put things into perspective. Perspective is an awfully good thing even though it often comes by way of someone else's pain. I don't usually post work related things here but I will in this case.
On Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 1:00 at Japan House, Professor Kimiko Gunji will perform a tea ceremony dedication for the victims of the Japan disaster. The public is welcome to attend and observe the ceremony. Staff will also be on hand to accept donations to the Illinois-Japan Disaster Relief Fund. Because it is the third Saturday of the month, Japan House will also be open until 5 pm for free tours of the house. The gardens will also be open for viewing.
Japan House and the College of Fine and Applied Arts have established a fund with the University of Illinois Foundation to aid the people of Japan directly affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami.
All gifts are deductible for federal income tax purposes, subject to the limitations placed on charitable gifts by the Internal Revenue Service. The University of Illinois Foundation is a 501(c)3 charitable organization. 100% of collected gift funds will be used to support the people of Japan affected by the earthquake and tsunami. Japan House, the College and the University of Illinois Foundation will work with the Consul General's office and the Japan Illini Club to ensure the funds go to organization that will allow for maximum benefit to the Japanese people.
