Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  Do you ever click through a link to a trashy story, say on your google home page or something?  And then when you realize the link of the only trashy story on the page is now a different color you quickly link on more respectable news stories so it looks like you read everything?

2.  I recently realized that Owen totally scammed us the other night.  As I was blearily trying to go to sleep, Ernie informed me that Owen's bed was wet.  It seemed odd to me but I was tired enough that I thought, eh, the mattress has a waterproof liner on it--we'll deal with it tomorrow---so Owen happily climbed into bed with us.  The next morning the more I thought about it the more the whole thing didn't make sense.  After much quizzing and interrogations---with no success I might note (other than very some suspicious smiling)----we realized that Owen had taken a glass of water and poured it on his bed and then said he'd had an accident so that he could sleep with us.  I couldn't even get mad at him----I just told him that it was worthy of his Aunt Judi.  He is a very creative guy.

3.  I was humbled last night by the wonderful gift our new friend Van sent to us.  It made me think a lot about friendships and connections with people---the giving and the taking of it all.  It's still tumbling around in my head....eventually I'll probably spill it out here but for now the word that kept glowing for me last night was humble.  Thank you Van...from our hearts.

4.  Leo is still home sick today.  No fever but he still feels lousy and I thought another day would do him good.  Owen started to do his best impression of a horribly sick child but his heart wasn't really in it so off he went.

5.  Last night instead of fixing dinner we sat on our little porch and watched the storm come in until the rain and wind drove us inside.  We ordered pizza and were lazy and then I headed upstairs early to read.  I took a break from the various music bios I've been reading and got myself a nice trashy regency romance and listened to Kieran Kane's Dead Rekoning album.  Perfect music for all the lightning flashes and the sound of the rain.

6.  I'm a tad bleary this morning....hoping I'm NOT getting the boys' colds.  Perhaps cold pizza for breakfast will help....
