Random Notes from the Sandwich Life

1.  We're still down to one vehicle so Ernie picked me up yesterday and we headed off to do some errands I needed to do for work.  We were stopped on Lincoln and University waiting for the light to change when we heard a pop and loooooonnnnggg loud hiss of air.  We both kind of looked around, thinking we'd see somebody with an airhose.  Then as the light changed and we moved forward, Ernie started saying, "I wonder if...." and I realized that had been our tire.  Just a week ago Ernie mentioned that one of the tires on the Honda looked as though it had a bit of a bubble and we needed to check it out but we were busy getting ready for the Phil Lee/Tom Mason show and then after that we were busy with the afterglow.

I gotta say though....if you're going to get a flat tire, this is the way to do it.  He turned off onto a nice flat sunny road and I sat on the curb while he changed the tire.  Eventually, in that interesting way men  having of watching other men work,  neighbors came out and chatted to us.  We both were kind of disappointed that the guys were't with us because they would have found it quite exciting.  Oh well....

2.  Our van is in the shop and the mechanic has continued the sighing...now he's calling it a 'real dilemma.'  Now THAT'S a word you want to hear from your mechannic.  Evidently they don't make the brake lines it needs anymore.  We're at the point where we don't know whether it's worth it to keep putting money into it but the thought of a car payment TERRIFIES me.  We can get by with one vehicle but Ernie can't do shows in the Honda.  And we can't fit five of us in there to drive to Maine.  Not that we know if Ricky is going to come with us but....  Eh, I don't know.  I sat and looked at prices of used minivans yesterday and all I could think was....'my bathroom is NEVER going to get fixed...'  Sigh.

Oh well....if our problems are cars and money we're doing pretty good I guess.

3.  I have finally given in and accepted the fact that we just can NOT make the Kane Welch Kaplin show in Columbus.  I start twitching a bit whenever it goes through my head but I guess that's the way it has to be.  Besides, now we need to buy new tires for the Honda.  Geesh.

4.  Hayes Carll is playing tonight...not sure if we're going to make it though.

5.  Oh, and taxes?  I haven't even thought about those yet.....

6.  And last but most....well, most stressful.  I am TOTALLY freaking out over the fact that the State is dropping Health Alliance as an insurance plan.  I do NOT want to change oncologists.  We've been seeing Ernie's oncologist for 7 years now.  I KNOW!  Seven freaking years. I've been futzing around online trying to get a sense of what our options are and am just confusing myself and sending my blood pressure way up.  Does anyone have a sense of the options if you want to stay with doctors at Carle?  Ay yi yi.....
