Only Ian, Johnny or Jimmie.....

I tell you....perhaps 40++'s aren't supposed to drive 400 miles one way for a show during the middle of the week and then go back to work, work double hard to cover everything and then plan to go out that night.  Yeah.  Great timing Cynthia.  You think  you're 21???

Sigh.

As I sat there at work  yesterday afternoon, with a bit of a headache, desperately trying to STOP inefficiently multi-tasking and focus and COMPLETE one thing I thought to myself that if it were anyone but Jimmie Dale Gilmore I wouldn't go out....  Well, or Ian Hunter...or Johnny Thunders....of course he's dead but you get the idea.  It was a tribute to how much I adore Jimmie Dale Gilmore that we dragged ourselves out.

We got to Bloomington with a little time to spare so we stopped at a bar on the square.  I liked the place better than the last place we tried but God help me we ate the worst nachos I've ever had in my life.  We made a dent in them anyway as we were really hungry.  I kind of thought of nachos as being in that same apocryphal category as pizza and sex---even bad they're pretty good---but I stand corrected.

We trundled over to the Castle Theater and snagged a table.  A tiny crowd, although it filled in a bit as time went on, but by and large I think everyone was as delighted to be there as we were.

I don't know how  Jimmie Dale Gilmore got so...uh....old. As beautiful and wonderful as ever but....how is it that time is passing this way?   Of course if I stop and think I realize that we first started going to see him back....uh....a LONG time ago.....geesh....those Hightone albums came out back in the late 80's.....

Warren Hellman was delightful and had a hell of a wonderful jacket. Here he is modeling it for us after the show.  Oh, and speaking of time passing and age he used a phrase I'd never heard before....  that life is like a roll of toilet paper...it rolls faster the closer you get to the end....

I LOVED the bass player Colleen Browne----she had a gorgeous voice, a really cool shirt, beautiful boots and Ernie was taken with her smile as well.  That's more than a trifecta...what would that be...a quadfecta?

O.k....enough for now..... a poorly recorded clip of a gorgeous song....
