Plastic Bertrand and Random Notes from Father's Day Weekend

1.  My summer cold is waning....in fact, other than a cough at night, I'm feeling pretty normal.  YES!

2.  Friday, I slept a lot and tried to recover...Saturday, Ernie and I hit the farmers' market and got all excited by the foreboding grey sky and the line of orange and red on the radar.  We went for a long drive in the country to admire the sky and the fields but the storms ended up missing us.

3.  Saturday night the boys spirited a roll of paper that is leftover from covering the walls of our booth at antiques shows upstairs.  They forbade Ernie to come upstairs and worked long and hard on a Father's Day banner.  Yesterday morning as soon as they got up they sent Ernie back upstairs to our room.  We laid there and read the paper and listened to the rain.  After several progress reports they finally escorted Ernie downstairs.  They not only hung the banner on the stair railing but also cleaned the room up a little!

The banner said "Happy Father's Day" and then at the end it said "from Owen, Leo and the lovely Cynthia."  $10 on which boy wrote that lol....

4.  After that the boys and I made breakfast.  Cinnamon rolls for the guys and omelets made of beautiful Triple S eggs with just a bit of cheddar and some tarragon.  Man!  Why don't I made omelets more often?  I used to be the official omelet maker for my parents....but I never make them anymore.  Anyway, with a side of Triple S's peppered bacon it was pretty phenomenal!  Resolution: more omelets in my future.

5. The rest of the Father's Day celebrations consisted of Owen taking Ernie shopping to buy a new belt.  Now Ernie desperately needs a new belt---he's been wearing one of my father's old ones that is far too big for him but really....Owen just bought a Zelda belt buckle and really wanted a belt himself.  While they were gone Leo made brownies for Ernie.  We had a brief trauma when we realized we didn't have the right chocolate but a little time with the internet and a kitchen scale and we figured it out.  Leo is a master at making brownies...

6.  The fact that my boys adore their father so much gives me incredible joy.  Incredible.

7.  Ernie played Ca Plane Pour Moi by Plastic Bertrand the other day and it's been stuck in my head ever since.  I can't decide which new version I like the best:  The Sonic Youth remix, the version by the original singer/producer Lou DePrijck, BossHoss featuring Plastic Bertand himself or the one by the Australian band Maeder.  Actually I do know which one is my favorite.  What's yours?
