A Brief Post....

A brief post becaue that's all I feel up to.  I do feel a bit better today...hopefully I am kicking this virus I picked up on my VACATION.  I started feeling off on Wednesday and woke up that night with a horrible fever.  I hoped it would be a 24 hour thing but no such luck...then just to top things off I got to have the pleasure of not only being sick on vacation, but also sick on the hottest July day in southern Maine since they started keeping records (100 degrees in Portland) and oh yeah....no a/c and no ocean breeze.  And YES that's a whine.  But I did have my own private nurse and three sweet boys.  I finally dragged myself out to the beach late Friday afternoon because I wanted to get in the water one more time.  Unfortunately we had to scrap our plans for a bunch of things but the boys didn't really care and the day I was the sickest they had the biggest waves so I guess, yet again, everything balances out in life.

I think my favorite anecdote of all actually happened before we left.  The night before we took off I was uh....well, losing my temper with Owen.  He had not been interested in going to the bookstore to buy some books to read on the trip (which had highly offended me to begin with) but when it came time to pack he began to complain about not having anything to read.  You can imagine my sympathy.  Things weren't going well so I walked into another room and mumbled something to Leo.  Leo looked at me with his big brown eyes, sighed, and said, "Mom, let me tell you something about Owen."  I looked at him and he put his hands up in the air as if to stop me from talking, sighed again, and said, "if you yell at him, he'll just get upset and not hear you.  What you need to so is use a soft voice, give him some reasons and then make some suggestions." 

I kid you not.  My Leo is a freaking genius. 

I am not. 

I stared at him.  He shrugged.  I blinked and said, "well, uh...yes...uh...you're right Leo" and stared at him some more.
