Anger Is An Energy.....and Undergarments....
Not the first time I've posted this PIL clip on this blog and I'm sure it won't be the last. I got home last night pissed off to high heaven at my children. Sometimes a little righteous rage feels darn good. I got them jumping and hopefully they understood why I was mad at them. We've got tons to do to get ready for Maine but somehow they didn't think that applied to them. And when Ernie offered to take them to Barnes & Noble to get a book for the trip....they turned him DOWN. RAGE I tell you.....RAGE!
It did indeed give me some energy and so I got all the bills paid/changed/scheduled etc. online in our bank account and did the other odds and ends I had to do. They all danced a bit quietly around me for awhile (including poor Ernie who was probably praying I wouldn't turn on him) but by the end of the evening we were fine and they were EXTRAORDINARILY sweet (hmph).
And in other news Owen thinks I need a new bra. I'm relatively casual changing around the guys. I'll say, "oh, don't look for a minute" as I pull my shirt and bra off. Leo drops to the ground as though acid has been flung in his eyes and Owen just gives a long sigh and says, "oh Mom...it's oKAAYYYY....we're all family." So yesterday when I turned back around to face him as I was hooking my bra he said, "uh Mom....is that your only bra?" I looked down at it and said sheepishly, "well no.....but it's my favorite one. Do I need a new one?" He resignedly shook his head yes. Geesh. My 9 year old son thinks I need a new bra. I suppose he's right. Sigh.
Now to contrast that....the other day I was downstairs and wanted to take a shower. I was also trying to get Leo to go outside to help Ernie cut some kale in the garden. He was balking so I said, "o.k. then you have to go upstairs then and get me a clean pair of underwear." He looked appalled so I cheerfully asked him if he was repulsed. He said, "YES...of COURSE!" So I just said, "o.k...one or the other...help your father with the kale or get me some underwear." He stalked upstairs and came back down with a pair of underwear held at arm's length, telling me, "don't EVER ask me to do that again." I giggled and gave him a big hug and told him I loved him. I mean...he COULD have helped with the kale...
Lord but I love those boys.
So wish us luck on our trip. We have wonderful friends taking care of the house and the cats and the watering.....and I suppose we'll leave whether we have everything ready or not....and then it won't matter....
Maine, Maine, Maine.....
