Owen and the Civil War
After the Lincoln Museum trip I remembered that I had scanned some of Owen's report on the Civil War from last year that I'd found while cleaning out his backpack for this year. As always I love his drawings. It's not that they're are detailed....but oh are they ever expressive. He's got some good quotes in here....
"Well, if I was there (in the Civl War) I would be scared, hungry, tired...maybe even dead!! But I would not give up. And there is something that scared every slave, a...SLAVEHOLDER!!" Then he goes on to describe the Underground Railroad.
And I like the way he comes to terms with people supporting slavery.... "I learned that there's kinda anything you can believe in." I can just see him shaking his head in puzzlement.
Man I love that boy.
