Random Pictures from the Sandwich Life

After looking back at some September posts in other years it made me realize how lousy my garden was THIS year.  With fall here there are some new highlights however.

The kale really comes into its own:

The boys hated this blue salvia because it attracted the bees like crazy.  I loved it though---it was one of the biggest successes of the garden this year.  It got huge and added that touch of blue that I love so much.

And here is a bit of spring, summer, and fall.  My bronze fennel going to see with a few summer zinnias in the background and the seed head of a peony looking like a little bit of star anise....

And the Ernie's harvest of the day....a handful of serrano peppers and a beautiful maple leaf:
