Sunday Morning Coming Down

Coming down relatively softly from the house concert though.  Yesterday was a lovely lazy day and it ended with a late dinner of grilled chicken and leftover ratatouille after watching a rousing game of Ghost in the Graveyard being played in our field. Oh, and Owen got his cello for his cello lessons that he starts at school this week.  Another monthly bill for cello rental....getting rid of the land line will take care of it though.  We never get ahead but I guess we're hanging in there.

Owen woke me up this morning to tell me it was almost biscuit time (and yes Tracy---I will post Ernie's biscuit recipe one of these days...gotta get some pictures first).  After breakfast and looking at a bit of the paper I took advantage of the drizzly morning and crawled back into bed with my kindle and the Warren Zevon book.  An hour or so later Owen came up to report that Ernie was feeling very sick.  Earlier he'd said he felt achy but I hadn't realized how achy.  So my poor husband is now huddled on the couch watching Goodfellas with a plastic bag in case he throws up.  Everything feels out of sync when Ernie is sick.  Owen has been conscientiously taking care of him....getting water, getting a straw for the water, etc.  He told me that Daddy REALLY liked having the straw.  Leo just shook his head sadly, saying "nobody likes to be sick" and kept playing minecraft.

I took a shower and I feel all clean and soft and the gloomy day feels clean and soft as well.  How lovely.  Well...except for Ernie feeling sick.

If Ernie felt better it would be a nice day.  Nice Day.  I love that song of Tommy Womack's.  It's a song that creeps up on you....and stays with you.  And for the moments that I Am Woman is NOT reverberating through my head thank you very much Tommy, it's been this song.  This is a great version too because indeed the only thing that could make it better is to have Will Kimbrough's guitar on it.   I was so happy when my friend Mary said to me after the show that this song almost made her cry.  I love her.  Yes.
